Interruption in Service on March 11, 2019

On March 11, 2019, a large number of SevenFifty users and SevenFifty Daily readers were unable to access any of the sites on our platform. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

The issue was caused by our domain registrar temporarily invalidating our domain name and redirecting all visitors to an error page stating verification was pending. Google Chrome users saw a warning that "your connection is not private" and that "attackers might be trying to steal your information." We would like to clarify that the latter was not the case. Your personal information was not compromised; there was simply a temporarily misconfigured security certificate.

As soon as our engineering team was made aware of the issue, our domain was reverified. Unfortunately, due to the way domain information is conveyed through the internet, the incorrect configuration could be stored by central servers on the global network outside of our control (like at your local internet service provider) for several hours, continuing to prevent some users from gaining access to our sites.

If you are still unable to access any sevenfifty.com site, there are a few steps you can take to help. First, clear your browser's history and other browsing data. Second, follow these instructions to reset your DNS (domain name service) cache on your computer.
